The goal of Housing Support and Advocacy is to ensure that immigrant communities in Central Minnesota have equal access to secure housing. This has been a long-standing issue, with discrimination and lack of fair housing opportunities hindering hard-working families from reaching their full potential. Our organization is focused on addressing the most pressing needs of the community, including contract violations, non-renewal of leases, unresponsive landlords, excessive relocation bills, and evictions.
To achieve these goals, we collaborate with stakeholders in the housing industry. We also offer educational programs and training for first-time homebuyers, providing them with the information and resources they need to successfully purchase a home. Our ultimate objective is to empower individuals and families with the tools and support they need to secure safe and affordable housing, thereby helping to build strong, thriving communities.
CMCEO is part of the Continuum of Care (CoC) which is a collaborative network of organizations working together to end homelessness in a given area. Housing Support and Advocacy plays a key role in the CoC by providing support to immigrant communities in Central Minnesota who are facing housing insecurity and homelessness. Our organization works to ensure that these vulnerable populations have access to safe, affordable housing, and that they are protected against eviction and other housing-related challenges.
As part of the CoC, Housing Support and Advocacy works closely with other organizations and government agencies to coordinate resources and services for people experiencing homelessness. We participate in regular meetings, data collection efforts, and planning processes to ensure that our community has the resources it needs to end homelessness.
